This was a popular question. However, most candidates were unable to relate the changes in the mood of the poet's persona to the theme of the poem.
Candidates were expected to discuss the following:

• Identification of the theme of temperance

• Definition/Explanation of mood
• Mood of celebration upon retirement. Both the poet and the persona join in celebrating the latter’s retirement.
• Mood of Reckless Abandon: while the persona jubilates in his freedom, the poet comments on the price the persona has to pay on his drunken state.
• Mood change as a result of drunk driving: the poet reports the change of mood as not a happy one. The persona tragically ends his life.

Candidates’ efforts were commendable.
