Question / Observation

The question was to produce a work piece using the right machines. The schools seem not to have all the needed machines.Candidates were expected to make the test piece shown in Fig. 1.

Candidates were able to produce the piece, however it is noticed that there is the need for improvement in candidates’ method of chamfering the end of timber.

Candidates were assessed based on the following skills and operations:

1. trenching;
2. rebating;
3. chamfering;
4. mortising;
5. accuracy;
6. finishing.
