Question 1
- Draw a table for multiplication ⨂ in modulo 8 on the se T = {2, 3, 5, 7}.
-
-
Use the table to find the solution set of:
- 3 ⨂ n = 5
- n ⨂ n = 1.
Observation
The Chief Examiner reported that majority of the candidates’ were able to draw the table in part (a) and those who were able to find the solution in part (b) could not state their answers in solution set and thus lost the mark for the final answer.
In part (b) (i), they were expected to read from the table. From the table the solution of n is
{n : n = 7}.
In part (b) (ii), reading from the table, the solution set is {n: n = 3, 5, 7}.
