This question was extremely difficult to the candidates as they could not provide the correct responses to parts (b), (c) and (d) of the question.
The required responses to these part are:
(b) (i) Hardness is the ability of a metal to resist scratching,

(ii) Ductility is the ability of a metal to be stretched or drawn into
wires.
(iii) Elasticity is the ability of a metal to regain its shape after
deformation.
(c) - file test;
- spark test;
- sound test;
- magnetic test.
(d) - corrosion resistance;
- ability to wash away swarf;
- should be able to flow.
