Candidates’ Weaknesses

• Inadequate knowledge of the subject. This may be due to lack of teachers or qualified teachers to teach mining as a trade subject.
• It appears that candidates have not used the recommended book on mining.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

To address the observed weaknesses, the following remedies were recommended:

• Teachers with mining qualifications be engaged even if it is on part-time basis.
• The recommended book should be used in teaching the students.
• Though a trade subject, in order to really motivate the students, credit in mining should be considered an advantage for those who will want to pursue Mining Engineering in higher institutions of learning.
• Greater advocacy or awareness

Mining is a veritable trade and a worthy subject for consideration by students.
