The following  weaknesses were obvious among the candidates: 
                        (1)        Candidates did not understand the  concept of monotone and melody.
                          (2)        Candidates lack aural perception.  
                          (3)        Many of the candidates could not notate  correctly and they wrongly wrote in solfa notation.
                          (4)        Chord identification constituted a major  challenge for the candidates
                          (5)        Candidates found it difficult to  differentiate between modulated and non-modulated phrase.
                        (6)        Many  of the candidates could not differentiate between violin and viola 
                        SUGGESTED  REMEDY
                        In  addressing the aforementioned weaknesses, it is necessary to:
                        
                          - subject candidates to  thorough aural training before entering them for WASSCE.
 
                          - give candidates  sufficient training on melody and monotone.
 
                          - expose candidates to  rigorous notation training.
