Observation
Candidates were expected to study the set-piece and respond accordingly to the questions. However, candidates’ performance was below average in this question. There was clear evidence that candidates were unable to quote the first two bars in the treble and failed to state the dynamic marks used in the piece. These poor responses made them to lose substantial marks. Candidates should have responded to the question in the following ways

Candidates were expected to study the set-piece and respond accordingly to the questions. However, most of the candidates performed below average in this question. They were unable to quote the last two bars of the bass part, and could neither state correctly the dynamics used in the piece nor identify the key of the piece. This resulted in loss of marks. Candidates should have responded to the question in the following ways:
