CANDIDATES’ STRENGTHS

Few candidates performed creditably in questions 3 (Western music history) and 5 (African music in the diaspora). This class of candidates knew much about the characteristics of music of the twentieth century period, the exponents of jazz and reggae, and the nationality and main instrument(s) with regard to each of the listed African diaspora musicians.
