CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
 Candidates’ weaknesses as  reflected in their work included:
(1)Use  of appropriate terms
Most  of the candidates have the idea of what the question requires but due to not  being able to use the proper terms to answer the questions end up answering out  of context. For example: materials mistaken for tools; coatings from covering;  covering defects from paint defects; repainting old painted surface.
 (2) Poor  reading habit
Candidates  should endeavour to read constantly the recommended books. 
(3) Site  trips 
Site trips should be made  to enable the candidates familiarise themselves with the subject.
(4) Recommended  textbooks
Relevant  textbooks should be provided for easy access.
4. SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO OVERCOME CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
- Candidates should be taught how to use the appropriate terms and how to answer questions as required in painting and decorating.
 - Candidates should be encouraged to read the more to enhance their understanding and get better grades.
 - Visits to sites where painting and decorating operations take place to enable the candidates have better practical experience.
 - Recommended textbook should be bought for use in schools. The following textbooks below should be provided for the students in the library.
