(a) - Photographic paper.
- Developer.
- Stop bath.
- Fixer.
- Running water.
- Scissors.
- Framing easel.
- Gloves.
- Rulers.
- Timer.
- Developing trays/dishes.
- Enlarger.
- Tong.
- Negative.
- Dryer.
- Safe light.
- Trimmer.
- Negative carrier.
- Focusing magnifier.
- Thermometer.
- Contact printer.
- Chemicals (all the processing liquids).
- Measuring/mixing/graduated cylinder.
(b) - Prepare the chemicals ready.
- Ensure the chemicals are placed in their specific trays
- Let other printing materials be ready.
- Switch off the darkroom light for safelight.
- Switch on the safelight.
- Switch on the enlarger.
- Put negative in the negative carrier in the enlarger.
- Select the images/frames/exposure to be printed.
- Adjust the enlarger to the required size (10” x 12”).
- Check for sharp image on the framing easel.
- Ensure the image is sharp on the framing easel using the focusing knob.
- Set the appropriate aperture on the lens.
- Do test strips using different exposure timing.
- Process the test prints
- Use the correct exposure from the test prints to expose the required 10” x 12” on the paper.
- Put the exposed paper in the developer.
- Remove from developer and put in stop bath.
- Remove from stop bath and put in fixer.
- Remove from fixer and put under running water.
- Leave processed print in running water for about 30 minutes.
- Remove and hang to dry.
