A tennis ball travelling with a speed of 10 ms-1 rolls off a horizontal table 1.0 m high. Ignoring air resistance, calculate the magnitude of the vertical component of the velocity of the ball as it strikes the floor. [g = 10 ms-1]
Observation
This question was quite popular among candidates. Candidates quoted the appropriate equation but failed to make the right substitution exposing shallow understanding of trajectory motion. Performance was low. There is need for teachers to teach the Physics in every topic handled.
