Physics Paper 3A WASSCE (SC), 2017

General Comments

The papers (Alternative A and B) were of standard and compared favourably well with those of the previous years. The performance of the candidates compared very well with that of previous years.

The rubrics were clear and in simple language. The marking schemes were adequate with no ambiguity. The various domains of assessment were adequately covered. This include candidates’ ability to:

- set-up simple experiment

- carry out the experimental procedure

- collect and analyze data

- plot graphs

- make necessary deductions from the experiments

- show understanding of the theories behind the experiments

The candidates’ raw mean score of 30 out of 50 and a standard deviation of 08.06 with a candidature of 666,992 indicates a better performance than that of May/June 2014 WASSCE when a raw mean score of 24 out of 50 marks and a standard deviation of 09.59 with a candidature of 658,393 was recorded.
