Candidates' Weaknesses
Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates‘scripts were:
- Insufficient knowledge of the subject matter as the candidates could not satisfactorily attempt questions on steps taken by salesman to make successful sales.
- Poorly use of English Language as most of the candidates could not explain their points in clear and correct English grammar.
- Few candidates attempted question seven (7) which was on pricing methods. The candidates that attempted the questions had poor performance.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
i. The candidates should learn the use of English grammar so as to enable them express their points clearly and correctly. ii. Teachers should thoroughly teach the candidates the aspect of pricing method. This is a valuable aspect of Salesmanship.
iii. Government should endeavour to recruit and train qualified teachers with qualification in Business Education.
iv. Candidates should study standard text books on salesmanship, Marketing and others as recommended by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in preparing for the examination rather than answering questions with residual knowledge.
