Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts included:
- wrong placement of Shorthand outlines which made it hard for them to transcribe what they jotted down.
- writing of dictated passages in longhand instead of Shorthand.
- poor spelling and wrong use of words.
(b) SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- Theory of shorthand should be taught and learnt so as to improve on the placement of outlines.
- Candidates should focus more on drilling, with the use of short forms, phrases and contractions in shorthand so as to improve their speed.
- Candidates should also improve on their spelling and usage of English Language so as to avoid many grammatical errors.
