Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts were
i. wrong placement of shorthand outlines which made it hard
for them to transcribe what they jotted down;
ii. poor spelling and wrong use of words;
iii. writing of the dictated passages in longhand instead of shorthand.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- Theory of shorthand should be taught and the candidates should be made to learn this, so as to improve on the placement of shorthand outlines.
- Candidates should focus on drilling with use of short forms, phrases and contractions in shorthand so as to improve their speed.
- Candidates should also improve on their spelling and correct usage of English Language so as to avoid making grammatical errors.
