CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts were:
- Illegible writing of shorthand outlines;
- Insufficient knowledge of the use of the function keys in word processing.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The following remedies were suggested towards improving the performance of candidates in subsequent examinations:
- Candidates should focus on drilling with use of short forms, phrases and contractions in shorthand so as to improve on the placement of outlines and the speed;
- Candidates should improve on their spelling and correct usage of English grammar so as to avoid grammatical errors;
- More time should be allotted to practice before the examination with emphasis on the use of function keys during word processing;
- More qualified teachers should be employed in the teaching of the subject in schools.
