Candidates were expected to:
- draw the given elevation of the cone and cylinder;
- draw the semi-circle of the cylinder on the elevation;
- draw horizontal lines from the divisions on the semi-circle to side of the cone;
- project downward from the front elevation to the plan;
- draw the semi-circle on the cylinder and divide into 6 equal parts;
- draw horizontal lines from the divisions on the semi-circle into the base circle;
- project down from the side of the cone to the centre line of the base circle on the plan;
- draw circles with section radii to locate points of intersection of the plan;
- complete the plan, curves and horizontal lines;
- project up from the plan and draw curve of intersection.
The solution is shown below
(B) Development of Cylinder
Candidates were expected to:
- layout the circumference of the cylinder;
- draw perpendicular lines on the circumference;
- transfer dimensions from the cylinder on the elevation to locate the points on the perpendicular lines on the circumference.
The solution is shown below
