Observation

The candidates’ performance for this question was average. Some candidates were able to list few of the methods of modelling pots. They were expected to respond to the question thus

1. Coil method.
   
   • Slab method.
   
   
   • Pinch/thumb method.
   
   
   • modelling/scoop method.
   
   
2. Wet method


• Collect the dry clay
  
• break the lumps of the dry clay into pieces


• pour sufficient water on it in a container


• stir it to dissolve the clay into slip


• sieve the clay


• remove the excess water


• keep the fine clay inside a container


• dry the clay gradually


• knead, wedge and knead again to remove air bubbles to obtain the right consistency


• clay is ready for use or storage.
