Candidates were expected to draw the following objects in a good composition and
close to a good source of light.
(a) a pair of men's boot
(b) a tin of shoe polish
(c) a shoe brush
(d) a soft cloth used for polishing shoes.

This is a popular question among the candidates. A good number of them were able
to put up impressive attempts, by indicating properly the source of light and giving
form and solidity to objects through effective use of shading in graded tones.
However, some candidates, rather than draw from observation drew from their
imagination. Some of these candidates presented only the shapes of the objects and
this made their works to be without form, sketchy and unidentifiable. |
