A few candidates demonstrated the following strengths: 
(1)        Knowledge of the techniques of shading
Few of the candidates demonstrated a sound understanding of the techniques of shading. These class of candidates were able to use shading (in graded tones) to indicate the source of light, show contrast between the objects and between the objects and the background.
(2)        Accurate and proportional representation of objects
Some candidates were able to render their objects and figure accurately and proportionally. The quality of the lines and drawing of the candidates were high. This class of candidates demonstrated experience that could only have resulted from constant practice of drawing and observation.
