(1) The following materials are supplied:
(a) Part A: four pieces of low carbon steel plate 150 mm x 150 mm x 1.6 mm;
(b) Part B: one piece of low carbon steel plate 100 mm x 100 mm x 1.6 mm;
(c) one tie-on label;
(d) electrode (2 mm).
The diagrams below show parts, views and the assembly of a refuse bin. Fabricate the refuse bin using the materials supplied.
Observation
This was the only question and candidates were required to attempt it within the stipulated time. Most of the candidates performed very well in cutting the parts but the parts were not properly welded and most workpieces were poorly finished.
