- Make  the test piece shown on page 440, using the  timber which has been planed to the following sizes (all dimensions are in  millimeters):two  pieces 270 x 40 x 30 hardwood; two pieces  200 x 40 x 30 hardwood; one piece 190 x 120 x 6  plywood.                          
 
                            
                           
                         
                        Candidates  were required to make mitre corner bridle joint. Few candidates were able to  make the joint. However, majority of the candidates were unable to cut the  shoulders at 45° for the pieces to meet at 90°.
                          Each candidate's final workpiece was to have:
                          2 pins (4 sides and 4  shoulders at 45°) and 2 sockets (4 sides, 2 ends at 45°)
                          2 bottoms and fitness of joint.
