Few candidates were able to:
- state the safety rules to be observed when carrying hand tools in the
workshop;
- list the testing tools used in woodwork.
However, they were unable to list cutting operations that are carried out on the
band saw.
The expected response to question 2 is as given below:
- Safety rules in carrying hand tools in the workshop
- Do not carry too many tools at once.
- Do not carry sharp edged or pointed tools in pockets.
- Store tools in tool kits or correct places immediately after use.
- Hold sharp edged tools close to the body.
- Hold sharp edged tools pointed down to the floor.
- Pass sharp edge tools to a fellow worker with the handle first.
- Do not throw sharp edged tools to a fellow worker.
- Hold the tool firmly.
