(II)ripping timber to size;
(III)planing face side and face edge of timber;

(b) State two activities required for keeping a chisel in a good working condition.
(c) Make a freehand pictorial sketch of a veneer hammer.
Observation
Many of the candidates attempted this question and the performance was okay. However, some of the candidate could not sketch a veneer hammer.
Candidates were expected to:
(i) Name the machine used for each of the following operation:
- cutting timber to length;
- ripping timber to size;
- planing face side and face edge of timber;
- planing timber to required width and thickness.
The solution is stated below:
- Cross cut saw/Dimension saw;
- Circular saw bench/Rip saw;
- Surfacer/Jointer;
- Thicknesser.
(ii) State two activities required for keeping a chisel in good working condition.
The solution is stated below:
- grinding;
- sharpening/honing;
- cleaning and oiling;
- proper storage.
(iii)Make a freehand pictorial sketch of a veneer hammer
