Candidates answered questions on the parts of the wood lathe averagely, while the response of candidates on steps on sharpening a chisel and list of tools belonging to sander and saws were not correctly answered
The expected response is:
Steps involved in sharpening a chisel
- Support the oilstone firmly in a vice or against a stopper.
- Apply oil to the oilstone.
- Hold the chisel at a constant angle (250 – 300) to the oilstone.
- Hone the chisel until a burr is formed.
- Remove the burr that is formed at the back of the cutting edge.
- Test for sharpness.
- Clean the oilstone with a clean cloth.
