The candidates were generally weak in:

            -           specific uses of hand tools, escutcheon and finishes;
            -           differentiating among man made boards and their sizes;
            -           operations performed on the lathe;
            -           producing their sketches with good proportionality.

To overcome these weaknesses, more emphasis should be laid on the areas listed above and more practical assignments should be given to students.
