AIM: To determine the characteristics of a fully-charged 12 V lead-acid vehicle battery.

(i)         is the battery leaking?   YES/NO
(ii)        how many filler caps does the battery have?
(iii)       what is the function of the battery filler cap?
(iv)       identify with reason  the positive terminal of the battery;
(v)        identify with reason the negative terminal of the battery;
(vi)       what is the ampere-hour rating of the battery?

1. Set the multimeter to voltage range and do the following:

(i)         connect the positive lead of the multimeter to the positive terminal of the
battery;
(ii)        connect the negative lead of the multimeter to the negative terminal of the
battery;

The candidates were asked to do some observations, note and record in their answer booklets their deductions.

The candidates, as reported, understood the question and carried out the actions required. As reported, some of the candidates had challenges in some of their deductions attributed to bad tutelage.
