                      The following observations featured in the reports: (1)        Several candidates demonstrated a noticeable improvement in  the degree of adherence to rubrics, orderly presentation of their answers and  legibility of their handwriting;  (2)       In the practical, there was evidence of  greater proficiency in the use of scientific instruments and apparatus and in the  treatment of numerical data.  Candidates  also   displayed familiarity with the measures  taken to ensure safety or accuracy as  appropriate, during practical  activities; (3)      A number of candidates were able to  tackle properly various questions that demanded understanding of basic scientific  principles or utilization of higher order                       mental skills; (4) There was better knowledge and understanding  of definitions, scientific  terminologies  and conventions;  (5) Majority of  the candidates utilized the time allotted to each paper efficiently; (6)   Many  candidates gave concise and straightforward answers to the questions that  were drawn from the following subject – specific areas: 
                             Physics   -  Properties of Matter,  Cohesion/Adhesion, Young’s Modulus,  Polarization of light, Total Internal  Reflection of Light, Sound Waves and                            Alternating Current Theory;  Biology – Hormones, sense organs, food  chain; growth, structure in relation to adaptation;   Agricultural Science –Components of an  incubator, soil types, phosphorus deficiency in crops seed germination,  diseases of livestock, pasture plants, Agricultural extension practices,  Marketing channel, Role of NGOs in agricultural production;  Physical  Education – Track and field events, Penal offences in football,  Artificial  respiration, Injuries associated with sports, The vertebral column, Muscles and Benefits  of Physical Fitness;  Chemistry –  The Mole Concept, Qualitative Analysis, Periodicity, Electrolysis, Reaction Stoichiometry, Pollution and Organic Chemistry
