The following shortcomings were observed from the candidates’ response:

1. production of poor sketches;
2. confusion of certain building terms as damp proof course (dpc) and damp proof membrane(dpm);
3. mis-interpretation of the questions.

To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be taught on the use of sketches in illustrating building processes.  Also, candidates should be exposed to practical aspect of building construction and visit construction sites.
