OBSERVATION

This question was unpopular among the candidates; it required that they trace the events that led to the first exile after the death of Josiah.  The few candidates that attempted this question did not write much; they used residual knowledge, which did not fetch them much mark.

Points to mention include:

(I) Josiah’s death made his son Jehoahaz to be king.
(II) He reigned for three months and was deposed by Neco to Egypt where he died.
(III) Nebuchanezzar defeated Neco of Egypt and attacked Judah.
(IV) Neco made Eliakim, the brother of Jehoahaz king in Judah and changed his name to Jehoiakim.

The part (b) of the question suffered more causalty as candidates could not mention the following points:

(I) Judah forsook God after the death of Josiah.
(II) Manasseh shed innocent blood in his worship of Malech.
(III) They were disloyal to God in their political alliance.
