The (a) part of this question was not attempted by most candidates.  Those who attempted it,  presented scanty answers.  However, candidates answered the (b) part properly by outlining four functions of commercial banks.  The (a) part of the question required candidates to provide answers such as

9(a)      There is ‘Esusu’, Etio-utu, and ‘Etibe’ in Nigeria.  In one case, members contribute a certain amount per period which is paid to one member at a time until the circle is completed.  In another case, members make regular payments to a collector who refunds their contributions at the end of a period for a commission.
