Majority of the candidates attempted the question.  The performance was however not impressive.  Some of the candidates did not draw the curve of interpenetration very well while some drew the plan poorly.  The expected solutions are shown below.

The question did not provide the seam therefore candidates were free to cut the object from either of the two sides.  This provided two alternative solutions A and B.
