This is a practical question on Mechanical. It is an alternative to the Building drawing and, like the Building drawing, provided the opportunity for candidates to express themselves with the use of line works, scale, cutting planes, symbols, construction lines etc. Candidates were expected to produce the sectional front elevation, end elevation in the direction of arrow E, and the plan of the given casting.
Fewer candidates attempted the question compared to those who attempted the building drawing. Poor line works, poor use of scales and poor visualisation of the objects from the required direction were some of the weaknesses observable in the candidates responses.
