OBSERVATION

This question was well attempted by the candidates.  In 1(a)(iii-v) many candidates could discuss the importance of agriculture under various headings such as foreign exchange, raw materials and food.  Also, in 1(b) and (c), majority of the candidates could mention international non-governmental agricultural organizations and state their main objectives.

However, in 1(a)(i and ii), most of the candidates were unable to discuss the importance of agriculture under the headings of rural development and market.

               The expected answers include:

               Rural development
Due to the expansion of agriculture more social amenities are provided in the rural areas thus transforming the growth and development of the villages  e.g. electricity, water facilities, good markets, road construction, schools, hospitals, etc.

               Market
Industrial products such as tools, equipment, machines, chemicals, etc. are consumed by the agricultural sector. Without this, most of the goods would not have been produced thus limiting the growth and development of the industrial sector of the economy.
