Candidate's Weakness
The candidates were unable to:
- - correctly write the botanical names of most specimens.
- - state the agricultural uses of specimen F ( Wood ash) and G (Limestone)
- - outline the steps involved in the traditional method of producing specimen K (palm oil).
- - name the breeds of farm animal that produces specimen T (Chicken egg)
- - write spellings of specimens correctly
- - use good English expressions.
- - write with legible hand writing
- - avoid the use of unacceptable social media abbreviations
- - correctly interpret most of the applied questions, e.g. 3(b)(1), 3d e.t.c.
Based on the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended as follow:
- (i) Candidates should embark on visit to agricultural farms.
- (ii)There should be intensive self-study and revision before exam.
- (iii) Hands-on practical exposure and experience is advocated
- (iv) Having a functional school farm be made a prerequisite for writing Agricultural Science in WASSCE.
- (v) Teachers should discourage the use of unacceptable social media abbreviations
- (vi) Improved reading culture among students is advocated.
- (vii) Only graduates of Agricultural Science/Agriculture should be allowed to teach the subject in Senior Secondary Schools in West Africa.
