CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The candidates were unable to:
- state the aim of the illustrated soil analysis experiment;
- name the parts of the illustrated soil analysis experiment;
- attempt the questions on calculations in soil analysis;
- calculate the area of farmland;
- identify the cotton stainer;
- describe the life cycle of grasshopper;
- state the functions of male reproductive parts of farm animals;
- write legibly;
- convey ideas in correct sentences;
state the unit of quantities in attempted questions on calculations.
Based on the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:
- Candidates should embark on visits to agricultural farms;
- There should be intensive self-study and revision before examination;
- Hands-on practical exposure and experience is advocated;
- Candidates should be exposed to technical terms used in Agriculture;
- Improved reading culture among candidates is advocated;
- Candidates should write legibly and concisely;
- Candidates should familiarize themselves with the unit of quantities.
