Candidates' Weakness
Candidates had difficulties in plotting graphs especially in the areas of choosing reasonable scale and maintaining the axes. Another observable difficulty was in the use of measuring instruments to obtain required readings based on the tasks given. A number of candidates also could not make reasonable comments on the results obtained from the experiments.
Suggested Remedies
This weakness can be overcome by:
- exposure of candidates to several practical sessions (hands-on in the use of measuring instruments is necessary as well as proper connection of devices);
- stakeholders providing functional electrical equipments, tools, instruments and consumables to secondary schools for practical sessions to ease transfer of formidable psycho-skills before examinations;
- teachers mastering the use of electrical measuring instruments in order to offer effective tutorship to candidates.
