A SUMMARY OF CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
The  candidates, however, could not adequately answer the questions asked on:
-           uses and types of reamer;
-           the  essence of the reversibility of steering gearboxes;
-           cam-and-peg gearbox;
 -           names  and functions of automobile piston parts;
 -           sketching  conventional automobile layout;
 -           merits  of conventional automobile layout;
 -           listing  sprung and unsprung automobile weights;
 -           name,  parts, demerits and causes of rapid wear of a specified type of tyre. 
SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING THE WEAKNESSES
School owners were urged to ensure that only eligible persons are tasked with the responsibility of teaching the students on the subject. Candidates were urged to study every item contained in their syllabus. Teachers were also advised to teach their students the operations of and how to sketch major automobile layouts.
