The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include:
- Inability to label the diagrams correctly;
- Inability to state the functions performed by each of the labelled parts of the drawing;
- Inability to name the type of seed illustrated;
- Inability to state the fate of starch, oil and protein stored in the part labelled II in question 1;
- Inability to state the correct Class of organism labelled A in question 2;
- Not stating the reason for placing the organism labelled A in theĀ Class to which it belongs;
- Inability to state how some organismĀ are adapted to their functions;
- Inability to correspond answers involving differences;
- Inability to classify the organisms labelled D, E and F into their Kingdoms.
The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses
Candidates should:
- ensure the demand of a question is well understood before answering questions during exams;
- improve on their spelling of technical terms;
- cover the syllabus before sitting the examinations;
- take the examination only after the completion of the senior secondary school;
- study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
- read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than Biology key points;
