The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include:

• Inability to label the diagrams correctly;
• Inability to state the functions performed by each of the labelled parts of the drawing;
• Inability to name the type of seed illustrated;
• Inability to state the fate of starch, oil and protein stored in the part labelled II in question 1;
• Inability to state the correct Class of organism labelled A in question 2;
• Not stating the reason for placing the organism labelled A in the  Class to which it belongs;
• Inability to state how some organism  are adapted to their functions;
• Inability to correspond answers involving differences;
• Inability to classify the organisms labelled D, E and F into their Kingdoms.

The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses

Candidates should:

• ensure the demand of a question is well understood before answering questions during exams;
• improve on their spelling of technical terms;
• cover the syllabus before sitting the examinations;
• take the examination only after the completion of the senior secondary school;
• study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
• read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than Biology key points;
