Few candidates were able to state functional requirements of inspection chamber in a drainage scheme.
However, majority of the candidates were unable to:
- state the advantages of the direct cold water supply system over the indirect cold water supply system.
- describe the metal conduit wiring system in electrical installation works.
The expected response to question 5 is a given below:
5. (a) The functional requirements of an inspection chamber are:
- Means of access for inspection and cleansing;
- Provide access for testing the drain line;
- Materials used for the construction must be sound and inert;
- Must be air tight and water tight;
- The size of the chamber must permit ready access.
(b) Advantages of the direct cold water supply over the indirect cold water supply system are:
- Few pipes required for installation;
- Water available at every point;
- Water from tap is cool;
- Water is not contaminated by dangerous elements;
- Water pressure is good most of the time;
- No cistern or storage tank required.
- Description of metal conduit wiring system in an electrical installation work;
