This question was not popular among the candidates. The performance to this question was below average. Some candidates were not familiar with the narratives of the story as some candidates were rather writing on the promises God made to Solomon. In some other instances, they mistook Joshua for Moses. Candidates were expected to have highlighted the essential points as listed below;

  1. When Moses was getting old, he prayed to God to appoint a successor to take over from him.
  2. God then instructed Moses to take Joshua, a man full of the spirit
  3. Moses brought Joshua before the Priest and the whole of Israel to be commissioned
  4. God promised that at Joshua’s word, Israel shall go out and come in victorious
  5. After the death of Moses, Joshua took up the leadership of Israel.
  6. God assured Joshua, he would give him every place that the sole of his feet would tread upon as he promised Moses.
  7. Therefore, he should arise and go over Jordan.
  8. Joshua was also assured by God that no man would be able to stand before him.
  9. God further assured him that as He was with Moses, so would He be with him.
  10. God again promised Joshua that he would be with him and would not fail him or forsake him.
  11. God encouraged Joshua to be strong and courageous so as to be able to lead the people to possess the land.
  12. Again, Joshua was told not to turn from right or left so that he might have good success.
  13. God also told him that the book of the law should not depart from his mouth.
  14. He should also meditate on the book of the law, day and night.
  15. And he should do according to all that is written in the law so that he would prosper in all his ways.
  16. Finally, God reiterated that Joshua should be strong and of good courage, and should not be dismayed.
