(b) list five ways of neatening the armhole of the
sleeve described in (‘a’) above.

OBSERVATION

Some of the candidates know what a set-in sleeve is all about, but could not explain how to perform or make a set in sleeve.

The required answer is as follows:

How to set in a Fitted Sleeve        

  • Pin, tack and stitch underarm scam. Neaten and Press
  • Gather/case round head of sleeve from notch to notch. Work one row on fitting line and another row above the fitting line.
  • Place sleeve inside armhole right sides facing, pin at balance marks.
  • Draw up gathering and ease into armhole. Pin and tack
  • Stitch along fitting line, trim turnings and neaten.
