The required answers to the question are as follows:
(a) (i) Ginning - removal of seeds, pieces of plant from raw cotton
(ii) Carding - separating the fibres and removing the short threads thus producing slivers.
(iii) Combing - lay the fibres parallel/side by side, by passing the slivers over revolving drums.
(iv) Drawing - pulling out the slivers and twisting them into one rope.
(v) Spinning - drawing out and twisting of the threads into a continuous length for weaving.
