Observation
Candidates’ overall performance was very poor. The question was unpopular and only a few candidates attempted it. Most of these candidates were unable to state the importance of textures in fabric decoration and list ways of creating textures in fabric decoration. This made them to lose some marks. They were expected to respond to the question in the following manner:
(a) Meaning of texturing:
It is a method/technique of creating a smooth or rough effect on a fabric surface, either deliberately or accidentally.
(b) Importance of textures in fabric decoration:
- It provides additional design effect.
- It enhances the beauty of the entire design.
- It creates the effect of light and shapes in designs.
- It breaks the monopoly of colours.
- It creates two or three dimensional effects in fabric decoration.
- It improves the surface quality of fabric.
- It serves as a means of communication.
- It enhances the creativity of the dyer.
- It improves the value of the fabric.
