CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

The obvious weaknesses of the candidates were in the construction of sentences, punctuation, spelling, use of tenses, and poor presentation of answers. Also, in questions 3(b) and 3 (c), which had to do with texturing; and 5(a) and 5 (b), which had to do with bleaching, candidates that attempted the questions scored below average. It clearly shows that most of the candidates had little knowledge of fabric texturing and bleaching.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO OVERCOME CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

1. The teachers should be encouraged to devote special attention to research and the teaching of the subject.
2. Relevant books should be made available to schools.
3. Candidates need to familiarise themselves with the proper method of answering questions.
