Observation
The question was popular among the candidates and most of them performed very well in this question. Most candidates were able to give the appropriate response to, evidence that they were taught on storage of chemicals. The following points were given by the candidates to obtain the maximum marks:
- It is a method of keeping dyes and chemical in air tight container until they are required for use. The containers prevent the dyes and chemicals against exposure to sunlight which could make them lose their potency and effectiveness.
(b) (i) Keep in air tight containers.
(ii) Keep in a dry place.
(iii) Keep where it is easily accessible/at eye level.
(iv) Label properly for identification.
(v) Keep in appropriate container (e.g. rubber/plastic).
(vi) Keep out of reach of children.
(vii) Keep away from sunlight.
(c) (i) It prevents dyes and chemicals from having contact with water.
(ii) It prevents breakdown of chemicals and dyes.
(iii) It prevents accidents/ hazards.
