   wiring system is to be used for the installation.

      Prepare a key for the layout.List the quantities of each of the fittings on the layout.Sketch a labelled circuit diagram showing how the lamps in the layout can be controlled independently in parallel.(i)         Mention the instrument required for carrying out insulation resistance test                             for the installation.(ii)        State the minimum acceptable value for insulation resistance.

    What is the maximum height specified by IEE regulations for the following electrical devices from finished floor level?Switches;13A sockets;15A sockets.State two precautions needed for proper electrical installation in the room.   |

                  | This is a test of practical question.  Majority of the candidates that attempted this question could not correctly interprete the electrical drawing.  However, a few candidate did well in answering this question.             The expected answers include:
 4 (a)
 (b)           15A  socket                  -           1
 13A  socket                  -           2
 Wall bracket                -           2
 Ceiling fan                  -           1
 Fan regulator               -           1
 Two-way switches      -           2

 (c)
                  (d) (i)              Megger  tester/installation resistance tester
 (ii)             0.5 megger  ohm OR  500,000?

 (e) (i)             1200  mm – 1500mm / 120cm – 150cm
 (ii)             450mm  – 500mm / 45cm – 50cm
 (iii)            450mm – 500mm /  45cm – 50cm
 (f)                  -           tighten all connector terminal/avoid partial contact;
 -           tighten all sitting of fittings;
 -           ensure that fittings are properly connected to the right  polarity;

        ensure that fittings are properly aligned to the sittings;      ensure neatness of finished fittings;      ensure that conductors  are not live before commencing testing;     ensure that the correct tools are used for the right task;     avoid naked conductors in the installations;     ensure good insulation resistance for the installation;     ensure effective earthing system.   |
