Weakness and Remedies
Candidates weaknesses were noticed in the following areas:
- inability to use international accepted terminologies for electrical quantities;
- inability to recognize the similarities of tools and use the appropriate names for it (e.g “drill bit” and a screw);
- inability to differentiate between procedures and steps;
- lack of practical experiences.
The following remedies were however suggested:
school and teachers should aspire to purchase correct books written/authored by seasoned electrical personnel;
- qualified teachers should be recruited to teach the subject;
- students should research further for modern ideas so as to compete with students abroad;
- candidates should be taught on how to answer question in an examination;
- teachers should cover the topics in the teaching syllabus before examinations commence;
- candidates should improve their study habit
