Observation

The candidates were required to read the passage and summarize some details in a specified number of sentences. Despite the easy-to-understand summary passage, many candidates were still unable to summarize properly. Some candidates lifted sentences verbatim from the passage and gave them as answers. It was  also observed that many candidates could not separate main ideas from details and illustrations.

Candidates must understand what the passage says and what the questions demand before they can summarize in their own words. Copying verbatim from the passage without regards to the demands of the question is not summary writing.
