Observation

The question requires that the candidate writes a letter to the principal of his/her former school on the occasion of the school’s 60th anniversary celebration, congratulating the principal and offering three suggestions for the improvement of the school. This question was not popular among the candidates and most who attempted the question failed to discuss the two parts of the question. Some of the candidates who attempted the questions merely listed things to be provided for the school. Also, some candidates made use of slang, colloquia and contracted forms which are not acceptable in this form of writing. However, many of the candidates were able to correctly set out the formal features of a formal letter.
